Unlike many other light sources that produce colored light by using a filter placed over the lamp, LEDs produce "true" colored light in narrow wavelengths within the visible spectrum. LEDs are commonly found in traffic signals, exit signs, and signal lights on some trucks and buses. As their efficacies increase and the technology for producing white light improves, they will soon find their way into a wider variety of architectural lighting applications.
